This policy explains what personal information The Rate Reset collects when you visit this website, buy from us, use our tools or contact us, why, and what you can do about it. The Rate Reset is a trading name of Emanuel Chereji, sole trader, Hofmannsthalweg 20/1/4, 4030 Linz, Austria (“we”, “us”), the controller of your personal information. Contact: support@theratereset.com.

The short version

  • What you type into The Rate Reset stays on your device. Your clients, prices, notes and notices are saved in your own browser. We never receive them.
  • When you buy, we and our payment and store providers process what’s needed for the order: your name, email, billing details and order.
  • We measure how the site and tools are used, and which ads lead to sales. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, this only starts after you agree in the cookie banner. Global Privacy Control is respected everywhere.
  • We send marketing email only if you sign up, and every email lets you unsubscribe.

What we collect, and why

  • Order and contact details (name, email, billing address, phone if you give it, what you bought, order number): to sell and deliver the products, give refunds, answer support and keep tax records. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation.
  • Payment information: card and wallet details are handled by Shopify and its payment partners. We see only the payment method type and the last digits, never your full card number.
  • Messages you send us: to answer you. Legal basis: contract or legitimate interest.
  • Device and usage information (pages viewed, buttons tapped, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, the ad or link you came from): to understand which pages and ads work and to fix problems. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland we collect this only with your consent. Elsewhere we rely on our legitimate interest, and you can opt out (see “Your rights and choices”).
  • Ad and visit identifiers on your order: when you buy, the ad click identifiers and campaign tags you arrived with, and our analytics visit identifier, are attached to the order. This lets us see which ads lead to sales. It covers the same consent rules as above.
  • Using the tools: we may count how the tools are used (for example how many clients were entered, or that a notice was copied), without any client name, price, note or text you entered. Same consent rules as above.
  • Marketing email: if you subscribe, your email address and the record of your consent, to send you emails about our products. Legal basis: consent. Unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email.

Cookies and similar technology

The store uses cookies and your browser’s storage for things it needs to work (your cart, checkout, security and your privacy choices). The Rate Reset tool uses your browser’s storage to save your work on your device, because you asked it to. Analytics and advertising cookies and storage are used only as described above. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page.

Who we share it with

  • Shopify, which hosts the store and checkout and processes payments (Shopify International Ltd., Ireland, and Shopify Inc., Canada and the US). Shopify also uses some information for its own services as described in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.
  • PostHog (PostHog Inc., US), our analytics provider, for the usage and visit information above.
  • Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. and Meta Platforms Inc.), for advertising: through Shopify’s Facebook & Instagram app, information about visits and purchases on this site is sent to Meta so we can measure our ads and show them to people likely to be interested. Depending on where you live, this may count as “sharing” or “sale” for targeted advertising under US state laws, and you can opt out with the “Your privacy choices” link at the bottom of every page.
  • Microsoft (Microsoft 365), which hosts our support mailbox.
  • Authorities, courts or professional advisers where the law requires it or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your information for money.

International transfers

Some of these providers process information in the United States or other countries outside the EU. Where that happens, transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Orders and invoices: seven years, as Austrian tax law requires. Support messages: as long as needed to help you and handle any follow-up. Analytics and advertising information: as long as needed for measurement, then deleted or anonymized. Marketing consent records: as long as you are subscribed, and for the period after needed to prove consent.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, object to or restrict its use, withdraw consent at any time (without affecting what happened before), and opt out of targeted advertising or the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Email support@theratereset.com, or use the “Your privacy choices” and “Cookie preferences” links at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out for that browser. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. We may need to confirm your identity first, and you may use an authorized agent.

You can also complain to a data protection authority, in Austria the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at), or to the authority where you live.

Children

Our products are for business owners. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Security

We use reputable providers and limit access to the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t email us sensitive information you don’t need to share.

Changes

If we change this policy, the new version appears here with a new date.
